My work is inspired by the nature of the wood itself. I find the grain, the color, and the texture of a piece of wood particularly interesting. Most times the wood dictates the final form in a piece of furniture. I find traditional tools and methods of work the most satisfying and use hand tools to refine the curves and shapes that are prevalent in my work. I do not stain in my pieces preferring the natural color of the wood determine whether a piece is light of dark. I make my own varnishes based on old recipes and use them to highlight and protect the finished piece.
